Pier Solutions oversaw and managed all of the site repairs on behalf of the R.M. of Oakview for Disaster Financial Assistance after the severe weather event in June and July, 2020. Pier entered into a construction management contract and managed projects starting with engineering and design, right through to final construction.

Evan and his team provided the best product while ensuring  Pier’s staff, design professionals, and subcontractors completed all work efficiently while respectfully addressing the concerns of not only Council, but as they worked with landowners. The work was always carried out with good communication, providing regular updates on the progress of the repairs.

RM of Morris, MB

The RM of Morris has a wooden bridge structure that was constructed in the 1980’s and about 5 or so years ago we had an engineering consultant conduct an inspection of the bridge.  The consultant basically advised us that we should remove the bridge and construct a new bridge.  Estimated costs were between $1.2 to $2 million.
 
One of our Council members engaged in conversation with Evan Manning at an AMM event and returned to the RM with a recommendation to have Evan provide a second opinion of the bridge.  Long story short Evan and his company repaired various items on the bridge for around $150,000.  We have since had his company repair another of our bridges at a similar cost and we also have them conduct annual inspections of both of these bridges to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to extend the life of the bridge as long as we can.
 
Our experience with Evan and his crew has been very positive and we would recommend them.

The RM of Connaught started a bridge maintenance program about 8 years ago.   The RM had found that the bridge reports SARM provided were not providing adequate or the right type of information for the bridge work that was needed.   As there was also a shortage of funding available to the RM for bridge maintenance, Council decided that they needed to develop a proactive approach; one that would sustain their current bridges and not waiting until complete failure of the asset to repair or replace.   This led the council of the day to start a program in collaboration with an engineer and developed a bridge priority listing and a yearly maintenance program. 

The RM of Connaught is currently working with Pier Solutions and Evan Manning on the municipal bridge program.  Pier Solutions provides us with detailed information on the condition of our bridges along with another firm, Zacaruk Consulting Inc.  The level of service provided by Pier Solutions exceeds our expectations.  Evan and his team provide timely communication to our RM with the progress of our projects and are readily available for questions or discussions.  The Pier Solutions team are always looking for new approaches to our bridge problems to help make our budget dollars stretch farther and to provide the best fix for the situation.  We value the trust that we’ve built with Pier Solutions and look forward to working with them in the future.

Trails Manitoba recently contracted Pier Solutions to refurbish and install two wooden bridges (originally from King’s Park, Winnipeg) in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. ​For a non-profit organization, building a pedestrian bridge requiring provincial permits and engineered designs for the bridge and the foundation is very overwhelming. Not only as it relates to the need to leave the RM of De Salaberry with a problem-free infrastructure but also as it relates to the fear of having cost overruns and needing to be accountable to our funders.
